About the Instructor

Ms. Alexander is a 1993 graduate of The SunCoast School of Massage in Tampa, Fl. She is licensed by the state of NC (#3536), an approved provider for continuing education by the NCBTMB #200, a contributor for Massage Magazine and a member of the American Massage Therapy Association. Because of her expertise in seated massage she has been featured in The Charlotte Observer and on NBC-TV.

Sheila’s background includes a love for people and a passion for service. As a rehabilitation therapist for emotionally disturbed youth, she found touch & humor as tools for healing. In 2002 she returned to her native NC to home care her father with Alzheimer’s disease then provided care for her mother’s terminal cancer. In 2004 she created a specialized massage practice for a CCRC (continuing care retirement community), in Davidson, NC, for their residents in all levels of care and continues to expand spa therapies. In 2012, Sheila was approved as a provider for continuing education to teach this profound work to the massage and healthcare communities.

Sheila is single and lives in the Lake Norman area with her 3 rescue cats Gato, Harry & Raina

Home study courses are commonly available as is training in well-known approaches like Compassionate Touch®. You can also find courses that discuss how to succeed performing massages at senior living facilities or how to address conditions like osteoarthritis. Some geriatric massage CE classes may even include hospice massage training.
