2-Day Myofascial Mobilization Workshop

Myofascial Release Seminars is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) as a continuing education Approved Provider. #025821-00

The Myofascial Mobilization Workshop is designed to give seminar participants a basic knowledge of the structure, function and dysfunction of the fascial system. The seminar leaders demonstrate basic myofascial soft tissue techniques. The techniques are then practiced by the participants in a “hands-on” session, while being given feedback and correction by the leaders.

The Myofascial Mobilization Workshop is designed so that participants can begin to develop “hands-on” myofascial soft tissue release skills, participants are taught a number of basic techniques which they can immediately utilize within their clinical setting. They will also begin to develop proprioceptive senses in order to evaluate and treat the fascial system.

About the Instructor

Dave has been an RN since 1974 and a CMT, through the NCBTMB, since 1999. He started taking MFR classes in 1997 and completed all of John's courses by 1998. Since then he has repeated most courses and has been an instructor with John F. Barnes, PT. In 1999 he left hospital-based nursing and now has a busy full time MFR practice in Port Huron Michigan. Dave has been very involved in health education teaching through his career. 1974 to present RN licensed by the State of Michigan, License number 4704106539. 1999 to present NCBTMB certified in therapeutic massage and bodywork, NCBTMB number 154922-00. 1999 to present Professional member of AMTA, AMTA number 93334. 1992 to 2000 Certified Provider and Instructor/Trainer for the following Basic Life Support (CPR), Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Trauma Nursing, Advanced Trauma, Nursing, Emergency Pediatric Nursing.

Myofascial Release I (MFR I) is designed to be primarily a “hands-on” experience. MFR I will present comprehensive knowledge of the function, structure and dysfunction of the fascial and craniosacral systems.

Myofascial Release

A popular continuing education choice, myofascial release is a modality that aims to relax tense, constricted fascia surrounding soft tissue. Whether caused by overuse, inactivity or an underlying condition like trauma or disease, the constricted fascia can contribute to muscle tension, poor circulation and referred pain. Practitioners use a light touch and slow motions to “release” constriction in myofascial release sessions or as part of a routine. Expect to find both broad overview and targeted technique programs, including pediatrics, women’s health and approaching illnesses like fibromyalgia.
