Event Description

This is our introductory course to Ashiatsu Barefoot Bar Therapy. Therapists will have lots of “feet on” time in this 3-day comprehensive class. Barefoot Curriculum includes prone and supine, seated and standing Ashiatsu Techniques. Our methodology is western focused and includes cross-fiber friction, effleurage, petrissage, compression as well as some trigger point and myofascial techniques.

The emphasis during this course will be on body mechanics, barefoot application, contraindications, certification, and bar construction. Therapists will gain enough knowledge and confidence to offer up to a 90-minute full body Ashiatsu treatment.

A non-refundable deposit of $325 is required to hold your spot. Once you complete the registration process a confirmation email will be sent to you. The remaining tuition balance will be due to your instructor two weeks prior to class.

Upon completion of this course, you will receive 25 CE hours. To become certified in Ashiastu DeepFeet Bar Therapy students are required to perform a practical on day three of class, complete an online quiz and submit 20 documented practice sessions.

Please review the following before registering:

We ask that you are healthy and free of any contraindications that would prevent you from receiving Ashiatsu in class.

Conditions include:
Pregnancy or trying to conceive
Uncontrolled High blood pressure
Recent injuries or surgeries
Contagious skin disorders
Compromised immune system
Acute liver or kidney disorders
Certain medications
Acute auto immune disorders
Recent surgical implants
Advanced Diabetes

The art of learning effleurage fluidly with the feet can be physically and mentally challenging. A successful learning environment depends on team participation.

If you have any physical ailment or debility that may interfere with you or your classmates’ learning process, please contact us in advance. Our #1 priority is safety for all students and guest clients participating in our workshops. A private one on one class may available if you require extra time or attention. Each student will give and receive two or more hours of Ashiatsu on the first two days of class. Although Ashiatsu is incredibly relaxing, it is also a deep compressive form of massage that is not appropriate for all conditions

We reserve the right to cancel class up to two weeks prior to the event if there are less than four students registered. This is highly unlikely to happen, in the event that it does we try and give students as much fair warning as possible. At such time, students can choose a 100% refund, or roll their deposit over to a future training with no penalties.

Your $325 deposit is non refundable should you cancel out of your selected workshop and the scheduled workshop takes place. A tuition roll over to a future workshop is allowed in the event of a healthcare emergency, pregnancy or injury. Two weeks notice is required and the fee to roll over the tuition is $75. When buying airfare, we suggest purchasing a ticket that is refundable should a schedule change occur.

About the Instructor

When I first started massage school I read about Ashiatsu Bar Therapy and I was amazed and intrigued. I found a certified practitioner in my area and after receiving my first session, I was blown away and knew it was for me! It became my goal to become a Certified AOBT therapist as soon as I could. I took my barefoot basics course just before I graduated from massage school and doing so was the best thing I ever did for career. I have continued to work smarter not harder, giving my clients the therapeutic deep pressure they need with out injuring myself. I hope to see you in one of my workshops in Clinton, Connecticut. The shoreline of CT is a relaxed beach community - with beautiful views of the tidal Hammonassett River from my studio - I encourage you to pursue this amazing modality. It will change your life!

Ashiatsu Massage

Few deep tissue techniques can work deeper than ashiatsu massage, a type of massage that uses the practitioner’s feet as well as hands, fingers and elbows to apply pressure. A typical ashiatsu setup includes both a massage table and ceiling-mounted bars that allow the practitioner to stay steady while standing on the table and applying targeted pressure with bare feet. It is an ideal way for massage therapists to reduce hand strain, and it can be performed with the client clothed.

Because ashiatsu is founded on traditional Chinese medicine, many ashiatsu massage trainings will cover energy meridians and mind-body balance, but not all courses take this approach. Some focus only on proper technique, safety and building your own strength and balance for better sessions.
