14CE TABLE THAI IMMERSION TRAINING Prerequisites : Licensed Massage Therapist Take a two-day journey through the multi-faceted modality of Thai Massage. At the end of this course you will be able to demonstrate a full-body selection of Thai Massage techniques that have been adapted for table bodyworkers including : a basic Thai foot reflexology treatment, sen line acupressure for the arms and legs, a detailed, lower body stretch sequence and a shoulder mobilization series. You will use your hands, thumbs, elbows and feet to apply table Thai Massage techniques with the client clothed in supine and side lying positions. You will also identify Thai Massage as a holistic healthcare treatment and a branch of Traditional Thai Medicine, practice Thai Yoga self-care exercises and share a neck and shoulder treatment with your partner using Thai herbal balm. Tuition includes a manual with photos and use of Thai herbal balms in class. All levels welcome, beginner-friendly. Therapist positions used : standing with one foot or both feet on the floor, sitting on the edge of the table, sitting and kneeling on the table behind the client who is sitting on the edge of the table​. Most moves do not require the LMT to climb completely on the table with the client.

About the Instructor

Instructor Charlene Gaffney has been a licensed massage therapist since 2001 with much of that time spent in private practice. She has over 20 years of massage teaching experience in both entry-level and continuing education. She is a registered instructor with the Thai Healing Alliance International, a Certified Massage and Bodywork Educator with the AFMTE and the founder/curriculum specialist for Elevate Massage Training. She has studied and practiced Thai massage and ashiatsu since 2008 and leads annual Thailand Study Tours for LMTs since 2016.

Ok, so you may have to use your hands A LITTLE BIT, mostly for positioning and balance, but not to apply pressure! In this course you’ll learn a new Thai massage sequence using mostly your feet and knees to apply acupressure and passive stretching.

Thai Massage

Thai massage works the relaxing effects of massage, the stretching of yoga, and the spiritual wellness of energy work into one session. The modality is more physically dynamic than a typical massage. Sessions are performed on a floor mat with the client fully clothed. The practitioner helps the client through yoga-based, assisted stretches while pressing on energy and pressure points along the body. Because of it’s similarity to yoga, some people refer to Thai massage as “Thai yoga massage” as well.

Along with teaching the modality as a whole, Thai massage training can teach you how to improve your flow with better sequencing, incorporate the classic Thai herbal balls or start using your bare feet as tools. You can also learn how to adapt Thai techniques for table massage or work with special circumstances like pregnancy and disabilities.
