About the Instructor

Sandra Rivera has been practicing massage since 2004 (IN #MT2090051). She has focused her career in women’s health. Sandra has trained in Claire Marie Miller’s Nurturing the Mother® Pregnancy Massage (2012), Fertility Massage (2013) and Menopause Massage (2023) courses. She has found success helping women through all stages of conception, pregnancy, and postpartum. Sandra worked for St. Vincent Hospital specializing in post-partum, high-risk pregnancy, oncology, and pediatric massage. She practiced with Indiana Reproductive Acupuncture for 10 years helping women optimize their pelvic health prior to conceiving.  This led Sandra to realize she finds working in women’s health most rewarding. She now owns her own practice, Nurture Massage, LLC and works part time as a massage coach at Indiana Wellness College.

Sandra has continued to expand her skills in fertility, pelvic pain, and gynecological visceral manipulation utilizing Mercier Therapy. Sandra loves to mentor and guide massage students in the fields of women’s health. By teaching Claire Marie Miller's courses to other therapists she can pass on the knowledge to safely and effectively support women to naturally achieve their goals. She hopes others find Claire Marie’s techniques to be as rewarding.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy continuing education courses are more than a hurdle to jump for license renewal. Massage therapists today are presented with an incredible array of opportunities to hone their craft, learn new techniques, and expand their practice into new areas. With topics ranging from new modalities to how to build a business, massage CE workshops offer something for every bodyworker.

For NCBTMB recertification, massage therapists must complete 24 credit hours of massage CE classes every two years. Three of those hours must be in research, three must be in ethics, and no more than four can be in self-care. Hands-on CE workshops, seminars, and distance learning offer plenty of ways to fulfill the 24-hour requirement.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy or prenatal massage is a system of adapted massage techniques that help both the mother and the baby before, during and after pregnancy. Pre-pregnancy massage helps the mother stay relaxed and ready to conceive. Massage during pregnancy addresses parent-child bonding, stress and the physical downsides of pregnancy, and postpartum massage helps the mother recover from childbirth.

Through pregnancy massage CE courses, you can learn how to perform sidelying massage, address the most common physical complaints expecting mothers have and watch for contraindications. Some comprehensive prenatal massage courses will also cover infant massage techniques. Anyone looking to specialize in pregnancy massage may want to consider courses in how to assist doulas and midwives around delivery time.
