Event Description
Ashi-Thai is an expression of traditional Thai stretches that have been modified utilizing the overhead bar system and therapists’
body so no heavy lifting or bending occurs at the waist. This flowing and rhythmic approach to Thai massage were developed for Ashiatsu
therapists seeking to expand their barefoot knowledge and add more strokes to their Ashi tool bag. Ashi-Thai techniques can easily be
incorporated into a regular Ashiatsu session or can also be considered as a stand-alone 2 hour Thai Massage Treatment.
The Ashi-Thai workshop has been divided into two different modules, the posterior module & the anterior module. The combination of
techniques has been arranged following traditional Thai energy lines and stretches for elongating and relieving tightness in commonly
used muscle groups.
Clients usually feel more range of motion, less tension, and an overall sense of balance and well-being. At the end of this course,
you will have a unique new skill set that your clients will be extremely impressed with. The emphasis during the 25-hour intensive
course will be on Ashi Thai methodology, body mechanics, barefoot application, contraindications, marketing, and certification.
Each week students will engage with one another for peer to peer feedback and also attend a 1- hour Zoom meeting with a Certified
DeepFeet Instructor. Students are required to set aside 8-10 hours of time per week to complete coursework and practice treatments.
The last week of the course will conclude with a 1-hour private practical examination done remotely with your instructor. Coursework
includes video instruction, digital lecture, online quizzes, digital evaluation forms, video reviews, community forum & weekly instructor
meetings.
Upon completion, the bodyworker will receive 25 CE credits and become a certified Ashi Thai Practioner. In addition, the therapist will
have enough barefoot skills and knowledge to deliver a 75-120 minute detailed Ashi Thai treatment.
Ashiatsu Bars are required to participate in this training. The bar installation manual is provided once your deposit and enrollment

Students will have lots of “feet on” time in this class and should expect a moderate level of difficulty during the first training session in barefoot massage, but with some adjustments and practice time, most discover that their feet are intuitive enough to deliver strokes with confidence. For more information about students’ physical expectations please see our FAQ section.
The emphasis during the 30-hour intensive course will be on DeepFeet methodology, body mechanics, barefoot application, contraindications, marketing, and certification. The barefoot massage techniques are western focused and include cross-fiber friction, effleurage, petrissage, compression as well as trigger point and myofascial techniques.
