Event Description

Luk Pra Kob or Thai Herbal Poultice is one of the treasures of Thai traditional medicine for over 400 years. In this class we will explore the use of herbal poultices in a variety of applications. Students will learn about herbs commonly used in Thailand to help relieve repetitive strain, pain and discomfort in muscles and joints and much more. We will also learn about herbs found in the west that can be adapted into these treatments.

Included in the tuition of the class is a PDF guidebook and class materials to make compresses.

Learn how to give an herbal poultice massage to enhance your massage sessions. You do not have to currently practice Thai Massage to take this class as we will learn how to integrate the herbal poultice into any other massage  treatment. With the new knowledge of these  botanicals you will be ready to add a new service to your menu. By the end of the class, students will have partnered up with other therapists in class and practiced hands on herbal poultice massage techniques.

Thai Massage

Thai massage works the relaxing effects of massage, the stretching of yoga, and the spiritual wellness of energy work into one session. The modality is more physically dynamic than a typical massage. Sessions are performed on a floor mat with the client fully clothed. The practitioner helps the client through yoga-based, assisted stretches while pressing on energy and pressure points along the body. Because of it’s similarity to yoga, some people refer to Thai massage as “Thai yoga massage” as well.

Along with teaching the modality as a whole, Thai massage training can teach you how to improve your flow with better sequencing, incorporate the classic Thai herbal balls or start using your bare feet as tools. You can also learn how to adapt Thai techniques for table massage or work with special circumstances like pregnancy and disabilities.
