This two day class will expands foundational information taught in Goldeen Myofascial Release – Teaching Series class, “Introduction to Myofascial Release” with a focus on assessment and treatment techniques specific to the low back and pelvis.

Myofascial Release Approach to the Low Back and Pelvis class includes both lecture and lab potions. Lectures are designed to raise questions, create dialog and deepen the understanding of how the fascial tissue performs and responds to a variety of conditions and or injuries. Lecture portion also covers proper client assessment for low back and pelvic issues as well as discussions regarding skills needed to effectively integrate MFR techniques into practice. The lab portion includes hands on instructing and practice of proper MFR techniques. Additionally, this class includes discussion of the important of proper body mechanics for the massage practitioner.

Student understanding of fascia and the roll it plays in chronic pain will be expanded with more specific and in depth information related to treating the low back and pelvis.

Students will learn advanced techniques for treating the lower spine, assessing and treating pelvic imbalances and torsion. Class discussion will focus on common lower body symptoms including sciatica, low back pain, plantar fasciitis.

Myofascial Release Approach to the Low Back and Pelvis class will give students an opportunity to practice identifying fascial restrictions through both palpation techniques and visual cues.
