Event Description

Stretch Therapy training: Enhancing performance through mobility. Using Passive, Active and Resisted ROM stretch therapy techniques, this barefoot massage technique allows the Massage Therapist to stand on a massage table and maneuver clients limbs with their feet, using the strong muscles of their legs and hips. We hold onto overhead bars and lean into our suspended support straps for balance and leverage as we lift, bend and twist clients into stretches. This helps a practitioner effortlessly maintain consistent pressure and counter balance while providing deep point holds, or long fascial stretches. We also compress or restrict clients compensating body parts down into a neutral alignment while creating various ranges of motion throughout all major joints in the body. The FasciAshi therapist can observe movement patterns and queue the client into resisted actions to help build joint stability, and encourage their interoceptive awareness during passive stretching and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation. We’ll be reviewing secure draping options while blending ROM into slow gliding, non-lubricated movements along the client’s skin. Can be adapted for more use of creme or provided with the client clothed. A full body sequence is taught.Prerequisites: See the “Prerequisites” tab near the bottom of this page. Class price: $447. You can choose to pay in full upfront, or make two payments. A non-refundable $223.50 retainer is required to hold your spot in class – the remaining $223.50 balance is due before class starts.

Ashiatsu Massage

Few deep tissue techniques can work deeper than ashiatsu massage, a type of massage that uses the practitioner’s feet as well as hands, fingers and elbows to apply pressure. A typical ashiatsu setup includes both a massage table and ceiling-mounted bars that allow the practitioner to stay steady while standing on the table and applying targeted pressure with bare feet. It is an ideal way for massage therapists to reduce hand strain, and it can be performed with the client clothed.

Because ashiatsu is founded on traditional Chinese medicine, many ashiatsu massage trainings will cover energy meridians and mind-body balance, but not all courses take this approach. Some focus only on proper technique, safety and building your own strength and balance for better sessions.
